Tarun Kumar Dash is a 29 year old young man who is a graduate residing in Puri town of Puri district of Odisha. He is married and a father of two children. Tarun met with a severe road accident while returning from Brahmagiri on the 12th of April 2015. Immediately he was admitted to the Puri District Headquarter Hospital for treatment. As his condition deteriorated, the hospital personnel referred his case to SCB Medical College Hospital, Cuttack. Finally, at Kalinga Hospital, Bhubaneswar an amputation of his left leg below the knee was done.

After this incident Tarun's life took a new mode. He was dejected, depressed and was entirely dependent on his family. He not only lost his leg but also his self-confidence. Fortunately, he came to know about SIDR and its services from Mr. Gopal Ch. Dash a relative. Without wasting much time they came to SIDR on 18th March 2016 and went through the orthopedic rehabilitation treatment of SIDR. SIDR Intervention

Tarun was a below knee amputee. His case was taken up by the SIDR and within 12 days, a new prosthesis was fitted. The staff of the SIDR found him an apprenticeship and also supported him at every step. The fitment was done on 30.03.2016 by Sri N. K. Acharya, P & O Engineer (Senior) supported by Sri S.C.Sahu, P&O Engineer (Junior), C.S. Parida, POE, Sri B. C. Jena, Leather Technician and Sri D. K. Singh, Occupational Therapist at SIDR, Bhubaneswar. During his treatment Tarun got a good environment and the staff of the SIDR counselled him for his better recovery of both his physical and mental health. Government training was provided to him and he has been advised to take care and to follow-up after a month.

After receiving a below knee prosthesis, he is now able to walk and has resumed a normal life. SIDR treatment is a disabled friendly treatment which makes the life of a person with a disability qualitatively better and comfortable. Presently Tarun is happy with his family and is fast regaining his self-confidence.
